Why isn't my website generating enquiries?
LAST UPDATED — 25 SEPTEMBER 2026 · 4 MIN READ
The most common reasons a business website gets visitors but few enquiries, and what to check first.
01Visitors can't tell what you do
If someone lands on your homepage and can't tell within a few seconds what you offer and who it's for, most will leave. Clever headlines often cost more than they earn.
Check: does your first screen say plainly what you do, for whom, and where?
02There's no reason to trust you yet
People look for proof before they get in touch: examples of work, reviews, recognisable clients, a real address or phone number. When that proof is buried or missing, the enquiry doesn't happen.
03The next step isn't obvious
Every important page should have one clear action: call, book, enquire or buy. If the contact form is hidden at the bottom of one page, or asks ten questions, many visitors give up.
Keep forms short. Ask only what you need to start the conversation.
04It doesn't work well on a phone
Most visits now happen on mobile. Slow loading, tiny text and buttons that are hard to tap all quietly reduce enquiries.
05The wrong people are finding it
Sometimes the site is fine but the traffic is wrong. Page titles, descriptions and content should match what your ideal customers actually search for.
06Where to start
Look at your site on your phone as if you were a new customer. If you'd like a second opinion, Hall of Digital offers a free website audit that looks at exactly these areas.
